Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitar player and music artist. She was the first woman in her age group to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka is a new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a student and child of Ravi Shankar. She spent her childhood bouncing around from London to New Delhi. Her first performance took place at New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. At the age of 13, she finished her high school studies at Encinitas CA. Anouskha's career as a performer and recorder is remarkable, even at her youth. Her father has accompanied her on numerous occasions for several years. She made Anourag her first solo album in 1998. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall. She has appeared at many major venues around the globe. Anoushka isn't just a performer. She released Bapi, the love of my life in 2002. The book is a biography which pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she acted in a movie in 2003. She played an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's work continues to grow and we are likely to see a lot from her in years to follow. Anoushka is a native of England, but spent most of her childhood between London and Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and went to the high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday, Anoushka made her debut as a sitar player in front of the audience at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka, who accompanied her father during his world tour, gained an impressive amount of experience. As a teenager, she performed in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was awarded an award from the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and youngest recipient of the prize.
